PXI-6602 NI
The PXI-6602 (part numbers: 777557-01, 185745-01) counter/timer module manufactured by National Instruments can perform a variety of functions, including frequency measurement, encoder position measurement, cycle measurement, event counting, pulse sequence and pulse generation, and pulse width measurement. Three high-speed DMA transmissions can be completed simultaneously without requiring the DMA resources of the user’s computer. The counter/timer module is equipped with TTL/CMOS compatible digital I/O, digital deboubling filter, 6 trigger lines, 32-bit resolution, static data transmission, and 8 up/down counters/timers. Its measurement and source frequency is 80 MHz. Part number 185745-01 is for the board only version of PXI-6602.
One of the features provided is pre frequency division. This function allows the counter to count faster signals compared to the highest time base of the counter. The counters on the National Instruments PXI-6602 Counter/Timer Module can provide 8X or 2X prescalers on each counter. If the user chooses, the pre zoom function can also be disabled. Each prescaler contains a tiny basic counter that counts to eight or two and then flips over. This counter was created for this application because it can count signals faster than commonly used counters. When performing measurements on a repeating signal in progress, pre frequency division is used in conjunction with two counter cycles and frequency measurements.
