1746-NIO4I is Allen Bradley’s SLC 500 four channel analog I/O module. The module is a composite module with two (2) input points and two (2) output points in a single slot module. It has two differential voltage or current input points and two current outputs, with a total backplane current consumption of 55 mA at 5 volts and 14.5 mA at 24 volts. Its points have a common mode voltage of – 20 to 20 volts, a common module suppression signal of 105 dB at 60 Hz, and a normal mode suppression signal of 55 dB at 60 Hz. The 1746-NIO4I uses a Sigma-Delta ADC converter with a resolution of 16 bits,+/- 1 LSB, and repeatability and nonlinearity of 0.01%. Its normal input current range is – 20 to+20 mA, current impedance is 250 ohms, and resolution is 1.22 A per LSB. The overall accuracy of the 1746-NIO4I is+/- 0.

The 1746-NIO4I also has a DC voltage input rating of – 10 to 10 volts and a voltage impedance of 760 KOhms, with a resolution of 305 microvolts per least significant bit (LSB). It also has an accuracy of+/- 0.504%, as well as drift accuracy and error of+/- 63 ppm/degree Celsius and+/- 57 ppm/degree Celsius. The 1746-NIO4I provides an overvoltage of 220 VAC (RMS) or 220 VDC (continuous). The current output has a load range of 0 to 500 mA, a normal range of 0-20 mA, and a 5% overrange capability (2.56348 microamps per LSB signal resolution). The overall accuracy of the 1746-NIO4I is ± 0.541%, the drift accuracy is ± 70 ppm/degree Celsius, and the gain and offset errors are ± 0.516% and+/- 12 LSB. The entire module has a 500 volt tested isolation between fields that are wired to backplane isolation, with a total update time of 512 microseconds for all channels. The 1746-NIO4I operates at temperatures ranging from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius and non-condensable relative humidity ranging from 5% to 95%.

The 1746-NIO4I is an analog combination module with two (2) voltage or current differential, non isolated input channels, and two (2) voltage output channels. The module is a single slot module that combines input and output functions.

The combined module is compatible with SLC 500 fixed or modular hardware. Install this module in any slot in the main rack except slot 0 where the controller is installed. It can also be installed in expansion modules or remote I/O stations. If used in a remote I/O station, this module may not be installed in slot 0. The mentioned slot is reserved for communication adapters such as remote I/O (RIO), Data Highway Plus (DH+), and Ethernet communication adapters.

The module current input range is – 20 to+20 mA, with a maximum allowable rating of – 30 to+30 mA. For voltage inputs, the allowable input range is – 10 to+10 V dc – 1 LSB. The current input is converted to – 16384 to+16384 raw data, and the voltage signal is converted to – 32768 to+32767 raw data. The converter resolution for the input section is 16 bits, with a repeatability of+/- 1 LSB. For the output part, the converter has a resolution of 14 bits and a nonlinearity of 0.05%.
