About 1747-SDN

Allen Bradley 1747-SDN is a DeviceNet communication scanner. This scanner module is used to communicate with devices that support DeviceNet through the DeviceNet network or through the DeviceNet adapter module. This module can work in slave mode; Send and receive messages in Polled, Strobe, Change of State, and Cyclic I/O configurations. It also supports a pass-through configuration, where 1747-SDN acts as a bridge and connects to a separate DeviceNet network. This passthrough feature is designed to replace 1770-KFD, 1784-PCD, 1784-PCID, or 1784-PCIDS DeviceNet connections on the network.

Specifically, when implementing the Pass Through configuration, the compatible SLC 500 processors are SLC 5/03, SLC 5/04, and SLC 5/05.

1747-SDN supports configuring up to 63 nodes at a baud rate of 125 Kbps. It consumes a total backplane current of 5V DC and 500 mA.

The front panel of the 1747-SDN is equipped with two (2) LED status indicators, such as module indicators that report module operation and network status LEDs that indicate the DeviceNet communication link. It also has an LCD display screen that provides module address and error indication. The DeviceNet terminal is installed behind the access door and provides a 10 pin linear plug that plugs into the DeviceNet port.

It is the interface between the SLC processor and DeviceNet devices, which can communicate with the processor through M1/M0 file transfer and discrete I/O. 1747-SDN exchanges configuration data, device I/O data, and status information with the SLC 500 processor. It consumes 500mA of backplane current at 5V DC, 90mA of backplane current at 24V DC, and uses a basic insulation type to test at 500V AC for 60 seconds between DeviceNet and the backplane, providing 30V circuit isolation. The IEC testing temperature range for 1747-SDN is 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit), non condensing humidity is 5 to 95%, and storage temperature is -40 to 85 degrees Celsius (-40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit). It also has an IEC tested 2G operating vibration resistance at 10-500Hz and a maximum impact rating of 30G. It has CISPR 11, Group 1, Class A radiation level, and is designated as the T5 North American temperature code. It adopts an open shell and has passed c-UL-us and CE certification.
