1747-SN

Description: Allen Bradley 1747-SN is an SLC500 Remote I/O (RIO) scanner module. This module is mainly used to achieve high-speed data transmission between SLC500 processors, human-machine interfaces (HMI), and other automation devices. This module has one (1) remote I/O communication port for communicating with RIO adapters in the RIO network. The Belden 9463 cable can be used for sufficient communication with this module, with a maximum length of 3050 meters or 10000 feet.

About 1747-SN

1747-SN is an Allen Bradley communication module used in devices that enable the RIO protocol, such as PanelView graphical operator terminals, message displays, SLC500 controllers, other programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and third-party devices such as gateways and protocol converters. This communication module is specifically a scanner module that communicates with compatible RIO adapter modules to request I/O status updates, messages, and diagnostics through the RIO network.

The 1747-SN comes with one (1) RIO communication port. This port is a three (3) pin terminal that requires a specific communication cable, such as a Belden 9463 cable. The RIO protocol can be physically implemented at a maximum line length of up to 3050 meters or 1050 feet, with a maximum of sixteen (16) devices supported when operating in normal mode and thirty-two (32) devices supported in complementary mode. The scanner module is capable of transmitting data at a transmission rate of 57.6 Kbaud, with a cable length of 3048 meters, a cable length of 230.4 Kbaud rate, and a cable length of 762 meters. The device is connected in a daisy chain topology and terminated with an 82 ohm resistor at both ends.

The 1747-SN supports the download, upload, and debugging of the SLC500 controller, as well as data transmission to connected graphics terminals in the network. It also supports remote I/O passthrough.

The 1747-SN uses the extended functionality of nodes to transmit information through a 3048 meter (10000 foot) cable at a rate of 57.6 Kbaud in the communication channel, and a maximum distance of 762 meters (2500 feet) at a rate of 230.4 Kbaud using an 82 ohm terminating resistor cable. Information is also transmitted through cable distances of 3048 meters (10000 feet) and 762 meters (2500 feet) using 82 ohm 1/2 watt terminating resistors at rates of 57.6 Kbaud and 230.4 Kbaud. It has four selectable baud rates and uses two DIP switches (switches 1 and 2) to select the baud rate.
