About 1756-L71
Allen Bradley 1756-L71 is a ControlLogix Programmable Automation Controller. It has 2 MB of available storage space for user memory and 0.98 MB of I/O memory. It also has an onboard 4-character alphanumeric display screen, which can easily monitor runtime and module information, as well as controller diagnosis. It has an open shell and one (1) built-in 2.0 full speed USB port. The available communication options include DeviceNet, ControlNet, EtherNet/IP, Remote I/O Data Highway Plus, third-party processes and networks, and SynchLink. It also comes with 1 GB of non volatile memory, but you can upgrade it to 2 GB using 1784-SD2. It is recommended to leave the SD card in the controller. The 1756-L71 controller comes with three capacitor energy storage modules, two of which are detachable. It consumes 5 milliamperes at 1.2 volts DC and 800 milliamperes at 5.1 volts DC.
The 1756-L71 controller also features a continuous isolation voltage of 30 volts, a maximum power consumption of 2.5 watts, and thermal dissipation of 8.5 BTU/hour. It has maximum analog I/O and digital I/O, with a total I/O of 4000, 128000, and 128000, respectively. Its operating temperature range is 0 to 60 degrees Celsius, and its storage temperature range is -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. The maximum ambient air temperature is 60 degrees Celsius, and the non condensing relative humidity is 5% to 95%. The controller has 2G vibration at 10 to 500 Hz, 30G operating shock, and 50G non operating shock, which drops to 45G after installing the SD card. Other controllers may require users to first understand PLC registers, especially bytes and bits, in order to begin addressing program elements. Using 1756-L71, users only need to insert a program element and select the logical channel for the I/O physical wiring location. In other PLCs, users may find it necessary to move one register to another to initiate conversion and processing, just to obtain analog data. The controller only requires the user to find the logical channel for the physical termination of the I/O signal.
The controller is part of the modern Logix controller platform, which is classified as Programmable Automation Controller (PAC). This PAC product series is very suitable for large and medium-sized automation requirements, especially for the control requirements of factories and process automation industries.
1756-L71 mainly has 2MB user memory and 0.98 MB I/O memory. It also comes with a 1784-SD1 Secure Digital (SD) storage card with a capacity of 1 GB of nonvolatile memory, which can be upgraded to 2GB by replacing the 1784-SD2 card. This controller can handle up to 128000 discrete input and output signals as well as 4000 analog input and output signals.
For industrial communication, 1756-L71 supports the installation of communication adapters. Other communication protocols supported by 1756-L71 include EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Data Highway Plus, Remote I/O, SynchLink, third-party processes, and device networks.
This controller is a chassis based controller. This means that a specific ControlLogix chassis must be installed in order to install the module. Compatible chassis includes 1756-A4, 1756-A4K, 1756-A7, 1756-A7K, 1756-A10, 1756-A10K, 1756-A13, 1756-A13K, 1756-A17, and 1756-A17 K.
