About 1757-SRM
1757-SRM is an Allen Bradley ProcessLogix and ControlLogix module used to achieve controller redundancy to improve the availability of process systems. This is achieved by using an auxiliary controller synchronized with the main controller installed on two (2) different ControlLogix chassis.
When implementing a redundant controller system, two (2) identical ControlLogix racks must be installed. The chassis size, installed and positioned modules, system power supply, and module version should match each other. This meets the conditions set by the redundant controller. One of the chassis is called the main chassis, while the other chassis is called the slave chassis.
The 1757-SRM has a fiber optic port for connecting 62.5/125 micron multimode fiber optic cables with SC connectors. The other end of the cable is connected to the partner 1757-SRM installed on another ControlLogix rack. This cable serves as a synchronization link between the module and the entire auxiliary rack.
The 1757-SRM is a two (2) slot module. It has a module status display, indicating the text code representing the module’s operating status. The PRI LED notifies the user which chassis in this pair operates as the main rack. The COM LED indicates communication and synchronization status. The health status LED indicates whether the module is performing a self check, experiencing a serious fault, or operating normally.
