About 1784-PKTX

Allen Bradley 1784-PKTX is a network interface card that can be directly installed into the peripheral interconnect (PCI) port of a personal computer. This card supports PCI bus version 2.3 and allows hosts to connect to Data Highway Plus (DH+), Remote I/O (RIO), or DH-485 communication networks. This card can be used to interface with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for process visualization.

It has a single channel DH+/RIO combination port labeled as channel 1A and the DH-485 communication interface labeled as channel 1C. DH+and RIO support long-distance communication, with specific coverage limited by transmission rate. Specifically, 10000 feet (3048 meters) @ 57.6K bits/second; 5000 feet (1524 meters) @ 115.2K bits/second and 2500 feet (762 meters) @ 230.4K bits/second. For DH-485, the maximum distance that can be covered is 4000 feet (1219 meters) @ 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, or 19200 bits/second.

The 1784-PKTX comes with 1 diagnostic/status LED per channel, and each system supports up to four (4) modules, as specified by the jumper configuration. Driver development can be configured in multiple ways and depends on the operating system.

1784-PKTX has different connection lengths and corresponding transmission rates, with a communication rate of 57.6K bits/s at 10000 feet, 115.2K bits/s at 5000 feet, and 230.4K bits/s at 2500 feet. The connection rate of the DH-485 network at 4000 feet is 1200 bits/second, 9600 bits/second, or 19200 bits/second, while the connection rate of remote I/O at 2500 feet to 57 feet is 230.4K bits/second. 6K bit/s at 10000 feet. Each channel of this module has an LED status/diagnostic indicator light, and bus communication complies with local PCI standards. The operating temperature range of the 1784-PKTX module is 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit), with a tested relative humidity of 5 to 95%, non condensing, and rated to withstand 30G operating shock and 2G at 10 to 500 Hz.
