1794-ASB has one (1) remote I/O interface. This RIO protocol is an old protocol that connects devices to RIO scanners using Belden 9463 or equivalent cables. This module is compatible with Allen Bradley Legacy controllers, such as PLC2, PLC3, and PLC5 controllers, as well as the SLC500 automation platform. It can also be used on modern Logix controller platforms as well as third-party devices and includes partner modules
1794-ASB sends data to and receives data from the controller through block transfer read (BTR) and block transfer write (BTW) instructions. Using these instructions, data packets can be sent simultaneously or sequentially, depending on the desired speed.
1794-ASB supports communication rates of 57.6Kbps, 115.2Kbps, and 230.4kbps. The expected power supply voltage range of this module is 11VDC-31.2VDC, including 5% AC ripple, while the nominal power supply is 24VDC. It supports the installation of up to eight (8) Flex I/O modules for successful implementation of a distributed I/O architecture. This module has built-in status indicators such as power LED, adapter activity LED, adapter fault LED, and local fault LED. The module is installed on standard DIN rails and has an open housing, which means that the 1794-ASB needs to be installed in an appropriate housing to protect the equipment from industrial elements and pollutants.
