About 1786-RPA
Allen Bradley 1786-RPA is a ControlNet modular repeater adapter. This module is a ControlNet communication network accessory mainly used to extend the length of the ControlNet network and assemble different topologies, such as star, ring, linear, or point-to-point topologies. This repeater module can also be used when physically converting the ControlNet cable medium from coaxial cable to fiber optic and converting fiber optic to ControlNet coaxial cable.
1786-RPA is compatible with 1786-RPCD repeater dual copper module, 1786-RPFS repeater short distance fiber module, 1786-RPFM repeater medium distance fiber module, 1786-RPFRL fiber ring repeater module, and 1786-RPFRXL fiber ring repeater module. The maximum allowable adapter for serial connection is 20 1786-RPA.
The 1786-RPAB repeater adapter requires a 24 volt DC input power supply. At 5 VDC, it can provide a maximum backplane output current of 1.6 A. The Allen Bradley 1786-RPAB repeater adapter has different functions, such as extending network length, performing network medium conversion from coaxial or copper media to fiber optic media, and vice versa from fiber optic media to coaxial or copper media, providing power to the repeater module, and creating ring, star, or point-to-point topologies.
The relay adapter and relay module are both equipped with 2 status indicators, such as Ready and Fault, indicating the power on fault status. The size of the entire 1786-RPA repeater adapter is approximately 4 x 4 x 3 inches or 10 x 10 x 8 centimeters, and it weighs approximately 7 ounces or 0.20 kilograms. This B-series repeater adapter is also known as model 1786-RPA/B.
