SST-PFB-SLC is a communication module produced by SST. This module is specifically a Profibus scanner module that is compatible with Allen Bradley SLC controllers, especially SLC 5/03 or higher. This module is a device installed on the chassis, occupying a slot in the SLC 500 rack. It is mainly used to implement distributed I/O or remote I/O architecture, as the module can communicate with up to 96 Profibus slave stations, with up to 244 bytes of input data and 244 bytes of output data being able to communicate with each slave device through the module. For the SLC interface, this module supports direct input and output data of up to 32 words, as well as M0 and M1 mapping data of up to 1000 words. This module is equipped with LED status indicators, such as COM describing errors in the network and SYS LED for sequentially reporting DP master or DP slave operations. This module also comes with two (2) 9-pin D-shell communication ports, one (1) RS232 serial configuration port, and one (1) Profibus communication interface. The supported Profibus transmission rate and cable distance are 9600@1200 Meters; 19200@1200 Meters; 93.75k @ 1200 meters; 187.5k @ 1000 meters; 500k @ 400m; 1.5M@200 Meters; 3M, 6M, 12Mbaud @ 100 meters. The recommended Profibus cable for this module is Belden 3079A, while other compatible cables are manufactured by Siemens or Bosch. The Allen Bradley blue hose cable with a 78 ohm cable impedance is not compatible with this module. The environmental specifications for SST-PFB-SLC include a working temperature of 0-50 degrees Celsius, a storage temperature of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, and a relative humidity level of 5-95%. The backplane current consumption of this module is 700 mA @ 5 VDC.
The SST-PFB-SLC Profibus Scanner Module is a Profibus network scanner module used for the Allen Bradley SLC 500 controller. This scanner module is designed to connect SLC 5/03 series or higher processors to Profibus DP master devices, DP slave devices, or FDL devices on a Profibus network. The SST-PFB-SLC scanner module can serve as a remote I/O scanner, capable of scanning up to 96 I/O slave devices connected to the bus. As a standard configuration, the SST-PFB-SLC scanner module supports up to 244 bytes of I/O data per slave device, but using the SST Profibus configuration tool, this capacity can be expanded to 1000 words of input data and 128 words of output data The SST-PFB-SLC scanner module can be installed in any I/O slot in the SLC rack, except for slot 0, which is usually reserved for SLC processors.
The SST-PFB-SLC scanner module supports all standard Profibus baud rates, including 9600 baud, 19.2 kBaud, 93.75 kBaud, 187.5 kBaud, 500 kBaud, 750 kBaud, 1.5 MBaud, 3 MBaud, 6 MBaud, and 12 MBaud. Users can easily configure any I/O device on the DP network using the SST Profibus configuration tool. The SST-PFB-SLC scanner module has onboard flash memory for storing configuration files, so there is no need to reconfigure it every time SLC starts. The SST-PFB-SLC scanner module provides standard status updates, such as FDL, network, and DP master station diagnostic updates, as well as individual status updates for each slave device connected to the bus. The maximum backplane current consumption of the SST-PFB-SLC scanner module at 5 V DC is 700 mA.
