The 3500 system rack design can accommodate all 3500 monitor modules and rack power supplies. It allows various 3500 modules to communicate with each other and allows the power supply to allocate power to each module as needed. The 3500 rack comes in two sizes to choose from: 1 Full size rack -19 inch EIA rack with 14 available module slots 2 Mini Rack -12 inch rack with 7 available module slots. 3500 rack comes in three sizes: 1. Panel Mount – This rack form is installed on a rectangular cut in the panel and secured to the panel using the clips provided with the rack. The wiring connections and I/O modules can be accessed from the rear of the rack. 2. Rack Installation – This rack form installs 3500 racks on 19 inch EIA rails. The wiring connections and I/O modules can be accessed from the rear of the rack.
Using the engineering tool Control Builder, you can configure hardware (I/O and communication units) and create applications using control languages that comply with IEC 61131-3. Before finally downloading the application program to the controller, the program can be compiled and run offline to assist in process simulation. Control Builder provides a set of options, each with its own set of properties. Control Builder is installed on a PC, which is usually connected to the AC 800M controller through the CN1 or CN2 ports on the control network and controller (see Figure 53 on page 153). Alternatively, Control Builder can be connected through the COM4 port (RS-232C) on the AC 800M controller. Use the tool cable TK212 and the serial port on the PC. In a redundant configuration, Control Builder is connected to the COM4 port of the main CPU. The backup CPU is unable to communicate with the control generator. PM851/PM851A is limited to one Ethernet (CN1) port, therefore redundant Ethernet is not available. As a standard, Control Builder does not support CI862. If you want to use CI862, you must install the appropriate system extensions. To use the FF HI function, use the serial firmware upgrade tool to upgrade the firmware of the CI852 unit.
