Ovation LC/Modbus interface redundancy involves coordinating data flow between Ovation controllers and Ovation LC modules, as well as enabling/disabling communication between each module and field devices. Redundancy is driven by Ovation controllers, as they determine which module should transmit data and which module should communicate with field devices. The controller makes these decisions based on feedback from each module regarding communication status. Redundant LC/Modbus links use the SLC algorithm to move data into and out of the LC module, just like non redundant links,

The algorithms for transferring data to the LC module (i.e. SLCAOUT and SLCDOUT) must be repeated for the auxiliary LC, as these algorithms cannot simultaneously transfer data to two cards. The algorithm for transmitting data from LC modules (i.e. SLCAIN and SLCDIN) must input the hardware addresses of two cards, and must use the input PSTA and SSTA to select which card to transmit data from.
