Call Session Control Functions (CSCF)
CSCF is responsible for setting up, managing, and tearing down multimedia sessions. There are three types of CSCF:
- Proxy CSCF (P-CSCF): It is the first point of contact for a user’s session. It forwards the session request to the appropriate network element.
- Serving CSCF (S-CSCF): It is responsible for session control and interacts with the HSS to retrieve user profiles and policies.
- Interrogating CSCF (I-CSCF): It is responsible for routing session requests to the appropriate S-CSCF.
Home Subscriber Server (HSS)
HSS is a central database that stores user profiles and policies. It provides authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) services for IMS users. It also manages user subscriptions and preferences.
Media Resource Function (MRF)
MRF provides media processing functions such as mixing, transcoding, and conferencing. It is responsible for managing media resources and allocating them to sessions.
This document provides detailed information about IMS product and its parameters. IMS stands for IP Multimedia Subsystem, which is a standard for delivering IP multimedia services. The IMS product includes various components such as Call Session Control Functions (CSCF), Home Subscriber Server (HSS), and Media Resource Function (MRF).
IMS Parameters
IMS parameters are configuration settings that define the behavior of IMS components. Some of the important IMS parameters are:
- Max-Forwards: It defines the maximum number of times a session request can be forwarded.
- Session-Expires: It defines the maximum duration of a session.
- Min-SE: It defines the minimum session duration.
- SIP Timer Values: It defines the time intervals for various SIP messages such as INVITE, ACK, and BYE.
