125840-02 Sometimes it may be necessary to replace the original firmware that comes with it
3500/20 Rack Interface Module (RIM). The following instructions describe how to
Delete existing firmware and replace it with upgraded firmware. RIM will need to
Reconfigure using 3500 Rack 125840-02 configuration software
Firmware upgrade.
The following items are required to perform RIM firmware upgrade on 125840-02:
Large slot screwdriver.
Grounding wrist strap*
Small slotted screwdriver
Upgrade firmware IC*
Follow the steps below to complete the RIM firmware upgrade for 125840-02:
Ensure to use 3500 to save the configuration of the Rack Interface Module
Rack configuration software.
Please refer to Section 12 (Precautions for Handling and Storing 125840-02) before processing
RIM or upgrade firmware IC.
Remove the RIM from the 3500 rack.
Remove the top cover from the RIM.
Remove the original firmware IC from the RIM PWA.
Install the upgraded firmware IC into the slot on the RIM PWA.
Replace the RIM top protective cover.
Replace the RIM with a 3500 system.
Reconfigure RIM using 3500 rack configuration software
