1746-BAS AB
About 1746-BAS
1746-BAS is a single slot module for SLC 500 modular or fixed hardware. This module is a basic language module used to interact with human machine interfaces (HMI), printers, modems, and other devices to achieve machine level data collection and integration
The 1746-BAS module has communication ports such as PRT1, PRT2, and DH485 communication interfaces. PRT 1 is designed to connect BAS modules to user equipment in full duplex mode at transmission speeds of 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, and 19200 baud rates. This port can be configured for RS232, 423/422, or 485 modes. PRT 2 can also be used with user equipment or to connect modems using the DF1 protocol. It also supports RS232/423, RS422/485 communication modes, with the same baud rate as PRT1. The DH485 communication terminal is used for the DH485 network. It is a non isolated port and requires the use of 1747-AIC to connect the port to the DH485 network. It is important to remember that when PRT2 is configured as DF1 or used to connect to a modem, the DH485 communication port will be disabled.
Allen Bradley 1746-BAS is the basic language module of the SLC 500 system. It enhances the functionality of any SLC 500 system by adding report generation and data collection. It can be connected to modems, printers, operator interface terminals, and other external devices through two configurable channels. The 1746-BAS-T module is the same high-speed version of the module, with different optional memory module. The 1746-BAS module has a memory size of 24 KB with battery powered RAM. It has a power load function of 0.150 at 5 VDC and 0.040 at 24 VDC. In terms of communication, it uses RS-232/423, RS-422, RS-485, and DH-485 ports, with a maximum communication distance of 1230 meters
For SLC 5/01 processors and later, it has a standard data transfer rate of 8 input words and 8 output words. The 1746-BAS module provides an easy data collection and integrated program debugging environment. It has flexible data storage options and operator interface functions. Its user interface provides easy access to editor functions and has an advanced programming environment; In addition, 1746-BAS provides users with extensive online help. It has other functions such as a clock, calendar, advanced text editor, and eight LED indicators for module diagnostics and operator interfaces. It has NEMA standard immunity and an operating temperature of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit).
