747-L553

Description: The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1747-L553 module is a CPU or Central Processor Unit module from the Allen-Bradley SLC 500 and SLC 5/05 series. This CPU has CMOS RAM built into it that supports battery backup, and it can also support an Allen-Bradley 1747-M13 memory module that provides it with 64 K of additional memory. The 1747-L553 CPU module has an Ethernet channel and an RS-232, DH-485, DF1, or ASCII port. This CPU is one of the most flexible CPUs that is available from the SLC 500 and SLC 5/05 series because it can handle up to 64 connections. This means that the 1747-L553 CPU module can communicate with 64 devices or applications simultaneously.

About 1747-L553

1747-L553 is an SLC 5/05 processor belonging to the SLC 500 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) platform. This controller has the highest memory in the SLC 5/05 category, which is 64 KB of memory. It integrates an RS32 Sub-D 9-pin connector for establishing point-to-point communication with locally installed human-machine interfaces (HMI) or programming workstations. It also has an integrated Ethernet, which is very suitable for long-distance communication, with a transmission speed of 10/100 mbps for at least 100 meters. It is also an ideal choice for establishing connections with multiple devices at once. These two (2) ports can also be used simultaneously without affecting the processor’s logical execution capability.

It contains an advanced instruction set based on the PLC-5 processor. 1747-L553 can be used independently or distributed throughout the system for SCADA applications. The total user memory of the 1747-L553 processor is 64K words, of which 60K words are used for data/programs and 4K words are only used for data. It has up to 4096 inputs, 4096 outputs, and 480 local analog I/O. The program scan time for each keyword is 0.9 milliseconds, and the I/O scan time is 0.225 milliseconds. The backplane current of 1747-L553 is 1 ampere at 5 volts DC and 0 ampere at 24 volts DC. It has a maximum of 3 local I/O chassis, with a maximum of 30 module I/O slots in the local I/O chassis.

For communication, it uses Ethernet and RS-232 ports, which can be configured to connect to the 1761-NET-AIC converter. It has standard battery powered RAM and flash backup memory. Using this processor, additional remote I/O scanner modules and DeviceNet scanner modules can be installed to configure I/O through a universal remote link or DeviceNet network. The 1747-L553 processor provides shorter 0.37 millisecond bit instruction execution time and a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port. Its DH+communication port is three times faster than the DH-485 port. It has all the functions of other SLC 5/03 processors, such as online programming, flash memory upgrades, floating-point operations, as well as built-in real-time clocks, key switches, and calendars.
