About 1756-A4

The Allen Bradley 1756-A4 is a ControlLogix chassis. It is a 4-slot ControlLogix chassis with a power consumption of 1.8 W. It measures 50.8 x 50.8 x 20.3 centimeters (20 x 20 x 8 inches) in inches and weighs 1.7 pounds. It is installed horizontally inside the panel and has an open housing. Its maximum backplane current is 1.5 A at 1.2 V DC, 4 A at 3.3 V DC, 15 A at 5.1 V DC, and 2.8 A at 24 V DC.

The chassis backplane provides a high-speed communication path between modules and distributes power to each module within the chassis.

The 1756-A4 standard chassis has a power on plug and unplug (RIUP) function, making it easy to maintain. To prevent replacement errors, it also provides electronic keying.

1746-A4 is an Allen Bradley ControlLogix chassis that can be installed on ControlLogix module processors, IO modules, communication adapters, dedicated modules, intelligent, including partner and third-party modules.

1746-A4 has four (4) slots. In addition to providing module installation slots, the chassis is also equipped with an electronic backplane, which distributes power to any module connected to a single chassis slot.

The chassis also provides the installation method for the system power supply. The system power supply is not included in the number of slots because it is installed outside the chassis through the provided power interface. As a four (4) slot chassis, the minimum rated ControlLogix power supply can power the modules connected to it.

The ControlLogix chassis also supports distributed applications. For distributed applications, I/O modules can be installed on a chassis far from the processor. This can prevent the installation of separate signal cables for home runs. For distributed applications, the distributed I/O channel does not have a processor, but rather a communication adapter is installed along with the required ControlLogix module. Any rack within the ControlLogix system can be used as a distributed I/O rack, including the 1756-A4. Each chassis requires a separate system power supply.
