About 1756-OB16I

Allen Bradley 1756-OB16I is a ControlLogix DC digital output module with sixteen (16) independent isolation points. It does not have an internal, but an external IFM can be used to protect the output. The recommended fuse type for this module is a 5x20mm 4 A fast fuse, provided by part number SOC p/n MQ2-4A. For the 1756-OB16I module, the compatible Remote Terminal Block (RTB) is 1756-TBCH 1756-TBS6H, both of which have 36 pins. RTB needs to provide signal termination points. The output channel of this module has configurable safe state positions when the controller’s mode changes to program and controller failures.

This module also has the following communication formats for output data, listen only for output data, rack optimization, listen only for rack optimization, and timed output data. It also allows selecting the fault or program status for each point, keeping the last state, on or off as each available option, and setting default values for both.

It is a 12/24V DC current injection/extraction output module with a working voltage range of 10 to 30V DC. The backplane current is 350 mA at 5.1V and 2.5 mA at 24V, with a total power of 1.8 W. The maximum current at each point is 2 A at 30 degrees Celsius and 1 A at 60 degrees Celsius (linear derating), while the maximum current for each module is 8 A at 30 degrees Celsius and 4 A at 60 degrees Celsius (linear derating). The surge current at each point can be repeated every 2 seconds at 4 A for 10 milliseconds per point. It also has a minimum load current of 1 mA per point, a maximum on state volume decrease of 1.2 V DC at 2 A, and a maximum off state leakage current of 0.5 mA per point.

 

The 1756-OB16I module underwent a 2-second routine test at 1350V AC. It has a continuous isolation voltage of 250V output to the backplane and a continuous isolation voltage of 125V output to the output. It also has an output delay time of up to 1 millisecond from off to on and up to 2 milliseconds from on to off. The power consumption of the 1756-OB16I module is 3.6W at 60 degrees Celsius (maximum), and its thermal dissipation is 12.28 BTU/hour. Its operating temperature range is 0 to 60 degrees Celsius, and its non operating temperature range is -40 to 85 degrees Celsius.

 

Allen Bradley 1756-OB16I is a 1756 ControlLogix discrete output module that supports both current injection and pull configurations, with a working voltage category of 12/24VDC. This output module is a single slot module that can be directly installed into the 1756 chassis.

It has sixteen (16) separate isolated channels, allowing different voltage sources to be wired to each output channel as long as the external power supply is connected to a 12/24 VDC power supply. It can also be terminated according to a non isolated wiring scheme, where DC (+) and DC (-) can be connected to a common voltage source.
