The 1769-L30ER is a 5370 L3 CompactLogix controller with 1MB of user memory, dual Ethernet communication ports, and a single USB port.
The complete communication port supports multiple nodes and point-to-point interfaces. Ethernet is the main communication port used by this device for data exchange with various devices. This port supports linear, ring, and star topologies. This controller can connect up to 16 nodes. These nodes may consist of human-machine interfaces (HMI), monitoring and data acquisition (SCADA), databases, converters, gateways, controllers, and other devices. These embedded ports are also used as embedded switches, which means that the dual ports of the controller will experience the same network traffic.
There are two (2) methods for assigning IP addresses to controllers. Firstly, use Allen Bradley’s BOOTP-DCP utility. This tool searches for the unique IP address of a device and assigns it a specified IP address.
The 1769-L30ER controller supports the installation of up to eight (8) 1769 Compact I/O modules. In addition, up to three (3) expansion groups can be installed to further expand and maximize the functionality of the controller.
