About 1784-PCICS
The 1784-PCICS card is an Allen Bradley card. It is a PCI card that enables ControlNet connections on compatible computers. The steps to install a 1784-PCICS card in a computer are to turn off the computer, remove the computer cover, select an idle PCI slot, remove the expansion cover of the slot, process the card to prevent ESD, and finally insert the card into the slot and tighten the screws. The technology used for card components is susceptible to ESD damage. Therefore, standard ESD precautions should be followed, such as using anti-static plastic containers, using grounding wristbands, and working in static free areas.
After installation, the 1784-PCICS card can be directly connected to the ControlNet network or to devices already connected to the ControlNet network. Different ControlNet networks should not be connected to the 1784-PCICS card, as doing so can cause unstable communication system operation. When using the BNC connector, the diagnostic status indicator on the front of the card provides information about the card and connecting to the network. When the 1784-PCICS card is connected to ControlNet through the RJ45 network access port, the status LED is meaningless. The 1784-PCICS card is compatible with PCI-X slots and has 32-bit and 64-bit PCI slots as well as 3.3V/5V PCI slots. The size of the 1784-PCICS card is 107 x 165 millimeters.
