The 1794 ACN communication adapter is part of the Allen Bradley 1794 FLEX I/O series. The adapters in this series can connect the FLEX I/O module to the I/O scanner port through a communication network. The 1794-ACN has an internal power supply that can convert the input voltage from 24 VDC to 5 VDC. This provides power for the backplane and FLEX I/O modules for transmitting and receiving configuration and I/O data. 1794-ACN is a ControlNet adapter that is very suitable for high-speed data transmission and repeatable data transmission between I/O devices and controllers. Its maximum power consumption is 400 milliamperes, coming from an external 24 volt power supply. The maximum FlexBus output current is 640 mA at 5 VDC. Its communication rate is 5 megabits per second and can communicate with up to 8 I/O modules. 1794-ACN can be connected to up to 64 analog input points, 32 analog output points, or 256 digital input/output points. Adapters can also be connected to a mixture of analog and digital points. The 1794-ACN is compact in size, measuring 3.4 x 2.7 x 2.7 inches. It can be installed on DIN rails, panels, or walls. Protected ultra-low voltage (PELV) or safe ultra-low voltage (SELV) must be used to comply with the CE low-voltage directive.
