About MVI56E-MCMR
MVI56E-MCMR is a ProSoft Technology communication module and a partner company of Allen Bradley. This module supports MODBUS Serial/ASCII communication and comes with dual RS232 serial application ports. These ports support RS232/RS485 and RS422 electrical standards, with configurable baud rates ranging from 110 baud to 115.2 kbps. Acceptable serial settings include none, odd, or even parity, with data bits 5, 6, 7, and 8; Stop bit 1 or 2 and RTS on/off delay 0-65535 milliseconds. This module also comes with a debugging/configuration port in the form of an RJ45 Ethernet port. This port supports 10/100 base-T transmission speed, with link and activity LEDs, and automatic crossover cable detection.
The MVI56E-MCMR is a single slot module that can be directly installed into any 1756 chassis.
To configure module operations and parameters, ProSoft Configuration Builder (PCB) and Product Discovery Service (PDS) can be used.
By reducing data blocks, MVI56E-MCMR requires less backplane/network bandwidth and supports simpler scheduling and transmission through the ControlNet network. In addition, when used with ControlNet communication adapters and redundant controllers, the reduced data blocks are actually used for remote rack installation.
To install the Prosoft MVI56E-MCMR module, users must have an Allen Bradley ControlLogix processor, an idle slot in the rack for this Modbus module, as well as an available power supply of 800 mA and a 5 V DC backplane power supply. The device also requires a 24 volt DC power supply to provide an additional 3 mA current. This enhanced Modbus master/slave communication module can store in the temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius (-40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit), but can only use 140 degrees Fahrenheit in the temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit). For data transmission between MVI56E-MCMR and the processor, use example ladder instructions or additional instructions. Above the front of the device, there is a 4-character scrolling LED display screen used to display status and diagnostic messages in simple English. This module has a CF card option to store configuration settings for all users. In this way, users can replace defective modules with new ones and quickly transfer all settings and data from the CF card on site.
