In the early days, PLC could only be used for logical operations, and now its functions are becoming increasingly powerful. However, overall, it is still suitable for automation engineering mainly based on sequential control, such as process industry. Industrial control computers, as control equipment, are mainly used in automation projects that focus on process control, such as the chemical industry. As the human interface of the upper computer, industrial control computers are considered to be only one PC and have little to do with control functions.

The PLC control system of the elevator consists of two main parts: a signal control system and a drag control system. The core of the system is the PLC host, where signals from control panels, call boxes, hoistways, and safety protection devices are connected to the input interface module of the PLC. The CPU scans and runs these signals into a control program stored in memory. The calculation results are displayed to the indicator and call indicator lights through the output interface module of the PLC, as well as control signals to the main drag and door control system.

Elevator signal control is basically achieved by PLC software, and the vast majority of relays have been replaced by PLC. The control signals input to the PLC include: selection of operation mode (such as automatic, with driver, maintenance, fire operation mode, etc.), operation control, internal command, external call, safety protection, shaft information or rotary encoder photoelectric pulse, and all functions of the door opening and closing signal control system, such as call signal registration, car position judgment, floor selection and orientation, clockwise cutting, reverse cutting, signal cancellation and safety protection, speed change, leveling, etc The opening and closing of doors, as well as the automatic operation of elevators, are all controlled by programs.

The main circuit and speed control device of the AC elevator traction control system are somewhat different from the relay control system. The main difference is that the working status and some feedback signals of the traction control system are sent to the PLC, which sends speed commands to switch, start, run, change speed, level and other control signals to the traction control system.
